We bought a new garage door in March and in general it works fine. But recently it began to make a loud “thud” sound when it nears the end of its travel when opening. It seems as though something may be binding causing the door to momentarily slow down until the motor can overcome this. Then it jerks quickly to catch up resulting in the thud sound. Your technician investigated and adjusted one of the rails but the problem remains…in fact it may be worse. He told my wife that “it’s a big metal moving door and sounds are to be expected”. I understand that the door will make sounds when opening, but the jerky movement and loud thud sound is not normal. I’m afraid this will cause a premature wearing out of my opener. I would like another technician to look at this again.
